Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Hotels and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 10.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Lily Textile (TW:1443) added 10.00% or 0.47 points to end at 5.17 and Holystone (TW:3026) was up 9.99% or 3.80 points to 41.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sincere (TW:2605), which fell 4.10% or 0.90 points to trade at 21.05 at the close. Chia Hsin Ceme (TW:1103) declined 4.02% or 0.45 points to end at 10.75 and Sino Horizon (TW:2923) was down 3.70% or 0.80 points to 20.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 571 to 181 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Holystone (TW:3026) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.99% or 3.80 to 41.85.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.24% or 0.12 to $50.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $53.10 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1281.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 30.320, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2258.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.70.
