Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.83% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 9.87% or 0.23 points to trade at 2.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.86% or 0.50 points to end at 5.57 and Young Fast (TW:3622) was up 9.80% or 1.00 points to 11.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aoc (TW:6289), which fell 7.32% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.140 at the close. G.M.I (TW:3312) declined 6.78% or 0.48 points to end at 6.60 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was down 5.00% or 1.15 points to 21.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 435 to 303 and 115 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.46% or 0.22 to $48.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $49.99 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.75 to trade at $1334.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 32.201, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2059.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.03.
