Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were F-Pcl (TW:4977), which rose 9.98% or 5.30 points to trade at 58.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Chun Yu Works (TW:2012) added 9.93% or 1.35 points to end at 14.95 and Super Dragon (TW:9955) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.73% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.06 at the close. China Metal (TW:1532) declined 6.75% or 2.70 points to end at 37.30 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) was down 6.48% or 0.70 points to 10.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 467 to 249 and 136 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chun Yu Works (TW:2012) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.93% or 1.35 to 14.95. Shares in Choice Develop (TW:9929) fell to 3-years lows; down 6.48% or 0.70 to 10.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.21% or 0.10 to $47.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.85 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.95 to trade at $1368.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 32.316, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2067.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.14.
