Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Iron & Steel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.70%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Rectron Ltd (TW:2302), which rose 9.97% or 0.74 points to trade at 8.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co Ltd (TW:2027) added 9.95% or 4.40 points to end at 48.60 and Grand Ocean Retail Group Ltd (TW:5907) was up 9.91% or 2.70 points to 29.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702), which fell 9.94% or 2.55 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Tah Tong Textile Co Ltd (TW:1441) declined 9.82% or 1.60 points to end at 14.70 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) was down 9.78% or 3.30 points to 30.45.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 573 to 233 and 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co Ltd (TW:2027) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.95% or 4.40 to 48.60.

Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.33% or 0.22 to $67.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.28% or 0.20 to hit $72.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.00 to trade at $1201.90 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 30.793, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2240.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 96.07.
