Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Bestec Power (TW:3308), which rose 9.96% or 0.72 points to trade at 7.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) added 9.93% or 2.75 points to end at 30.45 and Epileds Tech (TW:4956) was up 9.88% or 2.50 points to 27.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Roo Hsing (TW:4414), which fell 9.84% or 2.10 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Elitegroup Com (TW:2331) declined 6.55% or 0.95 points to end at 13.55 and Gamma Optical (TW:3557) was down 4.46% or 0.250 points to 5.360.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 390 to 366 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Epileds Tech (TW:4956) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.88% or 2.50 to 27.80.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.18% or 0.09 to $50.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.80 to trade at $1267.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 31.584, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2138.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.72.
