Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Hotels and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996) added 10.00% or 3.95 points to end at 43.45 and Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) was up 10.00% or 2.00 points to 22.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which fell 9.96% or 4.50 points to trade at 40.70 at the close. Accton Technology Corp (TW:2345) declined 5.26% or 6.00 points to end at 108.00 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) was down 4.62% or 6.00 points to 124.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 588 to 199 and 102 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.61% or 0.39 to $63.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.22% or 0.15 to hit $69.11 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.53% or 7.00 to trade at $1329.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.591, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2208.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 91.60.
