Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Hotels and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.50% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Nishoku (TW:3679), which rose 10.00% or 6.30 points to trade at 69.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) added 9.98% or 0.60 points to end at 6.61 and Jui Li (TW:1512) was up 9.98% or 0.48 points to 5.29 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pec (TW:4916), which fell 9.94% or 4.80 points to trade at 43.50 at the close. Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) declined 9.87% or 1.85 points to end at 16.90 and Epistar (TW:2448) was down 6.73% or 1.65 points to 22.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 398 to 360 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nishoku (TW:3679) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.00% or 6.30 to 69.30.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.44% or 0.19 to $42.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.40% or 0.18 to hit $44.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.01% or 13.65 to trade at $1360.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 1.07% to 31.108, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2128.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.77.
