Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Favite Inc (TW:3535), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 9.98% or 8.90 points to end at 98.10 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.90% or 2.90 points to 32.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Abocom Systems Inc (TW:2444), which fell 9.87% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.80 at the close. Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) declined 5.02% or 0.55 points to end at 10.40 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was down 4.66% or 2.00 points to 40.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 488 to 295 and 133 ended unchanged.
Shares in Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.98% or 8.90 to 98.10.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.25% or 0.18 to $71.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.33% or 0.26 to hit $79.54 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 4.90 to trade at $1294.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 29.956, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2131.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.80.
