Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Acer Inc (TW:2353) added 9.95% or 2.05 points to end at 22.65 and APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449) was up 9.91% or 5.40 points to 59.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which fell 10.00% or 9.00 points to trade at 81.00 at the close. Tatung Co (TW:2371) declined 9.92% or 1.95 points to end at 17.70 and Shuttle Inc (TW:2405) was down 6.37% or 1.35 points to 19.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 447 to 324 and 109 ended unchanged.
Shares in Acer Inc (TW:2353) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.95% or 2.05 to 22.65. Shares in APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449) rose to all time highs; up 9.91% or 5.40 to 59.90.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.34% or 0.20 to $58.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.20% or 0.13 to hit $64.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1270.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 29.935, while TWD/CNY fell 0.45% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 92.96.
