Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Machinery and Hotels sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.44% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Prime Electronics & Satellitics Inc (TW:6152), which rose 9.98% or 0.47 points to trade at 5.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Scientech Corp (TW:3583) added 9.95% or 5.70 points to end at 63.00 and Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) was up 9.90% or 0.60 points to 6.66 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which fell 8.08% or 0.63 points to trade at 7.17 at the close. Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) declined 5.06% or 4.10 points to end at 76.90 and Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) was down 4.76% or 1.05 points to 21.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 453 to 293 and 169 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.34% or 0.72 to $52.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.28% or 0.79 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.35 to trade at $1300.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 30.785, while TWD/CNY fell 0.21% to 0.2190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 95.472.
