Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Communication and Internet sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Airmate (TW:1626), which rose 10.00% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.70 at the close. Meanwhile, China Tv (TW:9928) added 9.94% or 0.54 points to end at 5.97 and New Palace (TW:8940) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Silergy (TW:6415), which fell 7.53% or 29.00 points to trade at 356.00 at the close. Choice Develop (TW:9929) declined 5.00% or 0.60 points to end at 11.40 and Cub Elec (TW:2231) was down 4.82% or 17.00 points to 335.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 377 to 344 and 129 ended unchanged.
Shares in Choice Develop (TW:9929) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.00% or 0.60 to 11.40.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.24% or 0.12 to $49.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.36% or 0.18 to hit $50.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.18% or 2.15 to trade at $1214.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 32.591, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.54.
