Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Financials and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 8.11% or 0.540 points to trade at 7.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Orise Tech (TW:3545) added 7.79% or 2.50 points to end at 34.60 and Global Brands (TW:6191) was up 6.40% or 0.65 points to 10.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which fell 9.99% or 8.50 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. Cyberpower (TW:3617) declined 9.87% or 11.00 points to end at 100.50 and Arima Communic (TW:8101) was down 9.68% or 0.54 points to 5.04.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 419 to 310 and 119 ended unchanged.
Shares in Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708) fell to all time lows; losing 9.99% or 8.50 to 76.60. Shares in Global Brands (TW:6191) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.40% or 0.65 to 10.80. Shares in Arima Communic (TW:8101) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.68% or 0.54 to 5.04.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.35% or 0.18 to $50.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.48% or 0.25 to hit $52.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.35 to trade at $1257.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 31.617, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2116.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 97.57.
