Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.33% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tatung Co (TW:2371), which rose 9.98% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Spirox Corp (TW:3055) added 9.92% or 2.45 points to end at 27.15 and SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786) was up 9.92% or 3.70 points to 41.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Copartner Technology Corp (TW:3550), which fell 9.07% or 2.30 points to trade at 23.05 at the close. Lextar Electronics Corp (TW:3698) declined 8.75% or 2.30 points to end at 24.00 and Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) was down 8.68% or 3.85 points to 40.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 454 to 355 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tatung Co (TW:2371) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.98% or 2.05 to 22.60. Shares in Spirox Corp (TW:3055) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.92% or 2.45 to 27.15.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.15% or 0.09 to $61.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $67.69 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 3.00 to trade at $1319.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 29.505, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2200.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.84.
