Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) added 10.00% or 2.55 points to end at 28.05 and Ene Technology Inc (TW:6243) was up 10.00% or 1.50 points to 16.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which fell 9.98% or 4.10 points to trade at 37.00 at the close. Infodisc Technology Co Ltd (TW:2491) declined 9.95% or 0.91 points to end at 8.24 and CMC Magnetics Corp (TW:2323) was down 9.92% or 1.250 points to 11.350.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 468 to 330 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) rose to 5-year highs; rising 10.00% or 2.55 to 28.05.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.66% or 0.44 to $65.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.62% or 0.47 to hit $75.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1298.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 29.900, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.94.
