Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Transport, Machinery and Biotech & Medical Care sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120), which rose 10.00% or 1.95 points to trade at 21.45 at the close. Meanwhile, AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) added 9.99% or 7.30 points to end at 80.40 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.92% or 2.45 points to 27.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019), which fell 9.84% or 12.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209) declined 8.69% or 3.65 points to end at 38.35 and Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976) was down 7.94% or 3.80 points to 44.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 447 to 308 and 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) rose to 5-year highs; rising 10.00% or 1.95 to 21.45.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.78% or 0.37 to $47.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.83% or 0.43 to hit $52.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.23 to trade at $1292.23 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 30.224, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2203.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.26.
