Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Glass and Information Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434), which rose 10.00% or 1.70 points to trade at 18.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442) added 9.96% or 0.81 points to end at 8.94 and Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) was up 9.88% or 2.90 points to 32.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201), which fell 9.95% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.65 at the close. Taiwan Line Tek Electronic Co Ltd (TW:2462) declined 9.08% or 2.90 points to end at 29.05 and Lily Textile Co Ltd (TW:1443) was down 5.56% or 0.33 points to 5.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 404 to 403 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.96% or 0.81 to 8.94.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.30% or 0.19 to $62.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.32% or 0.21 to hit $66.00 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.80 to trade at $1309.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 29.169, while TWD/CNY rose 0.32% to 0.2175.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 89.91.
