Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which rose 9.93% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 9.93% or 0.59 points to end at 6.53 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 8.57% or 0.12 points to 1.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were F-Pcl (TW:4977), which fell 8.44% or 4.80 points to trade at 52.10 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.42% or 2.30 points to end at 33.50 and Visual Photoni (TW:2455) was down 6.07% or 3.20 points to 49.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 448 to 396.
Shares in F-Pcl (TW:4977) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.44% or 4.80 to 52.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.04% or 1.06 to $51.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.59% or 0.93 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.22% or 2.50 to trade at $1152.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.39% to 31.076, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.1986.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 97.14.
