Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Plastic and Hotels sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101), which rose 9.97% or 0.34 points to trade at 3.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912) added 9.82% or 0.97 points to end at 10.85 and AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) was up 9.81% or 10.50 points to 117.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which fell 9.98% or 2.40 points to trade at 21.65 at the close. Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) declined 7.54% or 1.90 points to end at 23.30 and Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434) was down 5.82% or 1.05 points to 17.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 498 to 316 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.82% or 0.97 to 10.85. Shares in AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.81% or 10.50 to 117.50.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.13% or 0.08 to $61.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1317.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.34% to 29.045, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2166.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 90.01.
