Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Paper & Pulp and Hotels sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.02% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Infortrend (TW:2495), which rose 10.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Microtek Intl (TW:2305) added 9.97% or 0.58 points to end at 6.40 and Right Way Ind (TW:1506) was up 9.97% or 1.65 points to 18.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Microelectroni (TW:2314), which fell 9.80% or 1.20 points to trade at 11.05 at the close. Elitegroup Com (TW:2331) declined 6.61% or 1.50 points to end at 21.20 and Edom (TW:3048) was down 5.85% or 1.15 points to 18.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 412 to 348 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infortrend (TW:2495) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 1.80 to 19.80.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.07% or 0.44 to $40.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.63% or 0.26 to hit $40.94 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.81% or 10.20 to trade at $1244.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.36% to 32.400, while TWD/CNY fell 0.20% to 0.1997.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.19.
