Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 2.24% or 0.0125 points to trade at 0.5700 at the close. Meanwhile, United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 2.10% or 0.585 points to end at 28.425 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 1.91% or 1.510 points to 80.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP), which fell 2.48% or 5.39 points to trade at 212.00 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 1.66% or 1.04 points to end at 61.73 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was down 1.65% or 1.51 points to 90.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 94 and 17 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.61% to 19.880.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.15 to $1422.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $56.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.46 to trade at $64.29 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.09% to 63.1025, while EUR/RUB fell 0.13% to 70.3400.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.357.
