Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 3.76% or 5.50 points to trade at 151.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) added 2.77% or 129.0 points to end at 4785.0 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 2.62% or 9 points to 352 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which fell 2.63% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.8520 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.84% or 0.850 points to end at 45.400 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was down 1.64% or 2.24 points to 134.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 112 to 105 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.77% or 129.0 to 4785.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.62% to 16.440.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 1.70 to $1284.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.11 to trade at $57.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.24% to 57.4352, while EUR/RUB rose 0.49% to 67.7387.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.30.
