Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 2.24%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT), which rose 2.02% or 0.490 points to trade at 24.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX:GAPB) added 0.77% or 1.10 points to end at 144.53 and Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) was up 0.57% or 0.170 points to 30.180 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which fell 4.40% or 2.39 points to trade at 51.90 at the close. Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) declined 3.91% or 2.86 points to end at 70.27 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was down 3.91% or 9.45 points to 232.21.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 202 to 62 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.40% or 2.39 to 51.90. Shares in Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.91% or 2.86 to 70.27.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 8.45 to $1249.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.92% or 2.02 to hit $49.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.58 to trade at $58.70 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.74% to 20.0878, while EUR/MXN fell 0.39% to 22.7918.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 96.607.
