Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which rose 4.00% or 1.190 points to trade at 30.970 at the close. Meanwhile, GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) added 2.62% or 0.740 points to end at 28.960 and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV Class B (MX:BSMXB) was up 2.57% or 0.760 points to 30.290 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB), which fell 2.30% or 1.280 points to trade at 54.260 at the close. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) declined 2.18% or 13.59 points to end at 610.02 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) was down 2.03% or 1.60 points to 77.39.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 143 to 121 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.00% or 1.190 to 30.970.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.39% or 4.80 to $1223.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.49% or 0.33 to hit $68.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.29 to trade at $72.61 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.68% to 19.0239, while EUR/MXN rose 0.77% to 22.1594.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.94.
