Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO), which rose 3.26% or 4.33 points to trade at 137.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) added 2.51% or 0.58 points to end at 23.66 and Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) was up 1.98% or 3.60 points to 185.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which fell 3.64% or 1.31 points to trade at 34.65 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 2.95% or 0.36 points to end at 11.83 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) was down 2.48% or 4.03 points to 158.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 157 to 61 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.26% or 29.30 to $2,347.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.28% or 0.22 to hit $78.40 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.22 to trade at $82.53 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.59% to 18.46, while EUR/MXN rose 0.16% to 19.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.13.
