Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Industrials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB), which rose 4.55% or 4.150 points to trade at 95.390 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX:GAPB) added 3.42% or 5.32 points to end at 161.01 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was up 3.20% or 0.64 points to 20.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM), which fell 2.57% or 1.290 points to trade at 48.870 at the close. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) declined 2.52% or 2.400 points to end at 92.990 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) was down 1.46% or 0.74 points to 49.88.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 195 to 102 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.46% or 0.74 to 49.88.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.62% or 7.75 to $1264.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.09% or 1.97 to hit $46.20 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 4.30% or 2.46 to trade at $54.78 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.13% to 19.8893, while EUR/MXN fell 0.45% to 22.7813.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 95.833.
