Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Industrials and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.87% or 58.53 points to trade at 1055.01 at the close. Meanwhile, GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) added 5.74% or 1.550 points to end at 28.570 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was up 3.99% or 0.88 points to 22.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which fell 2.42% or 6.36 points to trade at 256.44 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 1.64% or 0.740 points to end at 44.320 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was down 1.01% or 1.040 points to 102.040.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 140 to 116 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.87% or 58.53 to 1055.01.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1289.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.89% or 1.46 to hit $51.97 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.58% or 1.52 to trade at $60.51 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.17% to 19.0077, while EUR/MXN fell 0.36% to 21.6944.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 95.567.
