Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1), which rose 4.50% or 5.69 points to trade at 132.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola Femsa SAB De CV (MX:KOFL) added 2.70% or 3.44 points to end at 130.83 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) was up 2.18% or 0.990 points to 46.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which fell 4.93% or 27.45 points to trade at 529.00 at the close. America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL) declined 2.08% or 0.370 points to end at 17.430 and VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) was down 1.90% or 0.29 points to 14.97.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 152 to 124 and 16 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.20% or 15.80 to $1335.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.34% or 0.21 to hit $62.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $65.63 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.12% to 18.7636, while EUR/MXN rose 0.17% to 23.2910.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 89.56.
