Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM), which rose 2.44% or 1.150 points to trade at 48.260 at the close. Meanwhile, Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) added 2.30% or 0.32 points to end at 14.25 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) was up 1.64% or 0.370 points to 22.960 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB), which fell 2.80% or 0.820 points to trade at 28.490 at the close. VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) declined 2.70% or 0.45 points to end at 16.19 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) was down 1.92% or 1.210 points to 61.710.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 169 to 96 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.70% or 0.45 to 16.19.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1269.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.29% or 0.17 to hit $58.26 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.61 to trade at $64.14 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.03% to 19.4611, while EUR/MXN fell 0.06% to 23.0952.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 92.84.
