Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Industrials and Trade & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK), which rose 0.09% or 0.02 points to trade at 22.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) fell 0.16% or 0.01 points to end at 6.40 and Petronas Gas Bhd (KL:PGAS) was down 0.37% or 0.08 points to 21.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB), which fell 2.50% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) declined 2.43% or 0.06 points to end at 2.41 and RHB Capital Bhd (KL:RHBC) was down 2.37% or 0.18 points to 7.41.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 452 to 89 and 39 ended unchanged.
Shares in AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.50% or 0.15 to 5.86.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.92% or 1.06 to $54.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.36% or 1.43 to hit $58.90 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.45% or 5.30 to trade at $1162.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.78% to 2.8262, while USD/MYR rose 1.08% to 3.8145.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 96.51.
