Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Trade & Services and Consumer Products sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which rose 3.00% or 0.07 points to trade at 2.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) added 2.37% or 0.07 points to end at 3.02 and Sime Darby Bhd (KL:SIME) was up 2.14% or 0.18 points to 8.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which fell 1.70% or 0.09 points to trade at 5.20 at the close. Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) declined 1.19% or 0.05 points to end at 4.15 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) was down 1.18% or 0.05 points to 4.18.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 296 to 259 and 46 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.14% or 0.07 to $48.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.73% or 0.39 to hit $53.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.72% or 7.90 to trade at $1085.40 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.07% to 2.7841, while USD/MYR rose 0.25% to 3.8233.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.35.
