Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Retail, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.25%, while the MDAX index fell 1.04%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.25%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 0.16% or 0.06 points to trade at 34.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) fell 0.31% or 0.060 points to end at 19.085 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was down 0.43% or 0.85 points to 196.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 2.51% or 0.410 points to trade at 15.940 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) declined 2.19% or 1.830 points to end at 81.780 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was down 2.10% or 3.65 points to 170.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 6.14% to 84.210, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 1.66% to settle at 11.970 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.16% to close at 39.690.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 8.27% to 39.21 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 2.82% to settle at 23.400 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 2.48% to 72.282 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 0.89% to 243.85, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.36% to settle at 55.210 and Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which gained 0.35% to close at 38.300.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 6.40% to 13.245 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 3.20% to settle at 49.370 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.06% to 38.115 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 555 to 212 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.14% or 4.870 to 84.210.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.41% to 13.48.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.75% or 9.22 to $1242.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.61% or 0.28 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.35 to trade at $48.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.87% to 1.1578, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 94.32.
