Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher while losses in the Auto, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 4.04% or 25.65 points to trade at 659.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) added 3.47% or 103.50 points to end at 3,085.00 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 3.32% or 11.05 points to 343.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which fell 2.59% or 73.45 points to trade at 2,767.00 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.17% or 116.15 points to end at 9,772.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 1.07% or 14.65 points to 1,349.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.04% to 154.10, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.62% to settle at 4,488.15 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.46% to close at 403.95.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.55% to 2,768.15 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.13% to settle at 1,350.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.02% to 1,469.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1804 to 689 and 28 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2595 rose and 1272 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.
Shares in Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.47% or 103.50 to 3,085.00. Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) rose to all time highs; up 1.62% or 71.60 to 4,488.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.46% to 14.19.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.21% or 5.45 to $2,532.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.01% or 0.76 to hit $74.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.78 to trade at $78.90 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.87, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 92.54.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 102.08.
