Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Metals and Green Energy sectors led shares higher while losses in the IT, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 4.31% or 7.60 points to trade at 183.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 2.59% or 576.65 points to end at 22784.50 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 1.48% or 2.25 points to 154.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 1.15% or 0.55 points to trade at 47.35 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) declined 0.89% or 4.90 points to end at 543.95 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was down 0.83% or 2.80 points to 334.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which rose 5.57% to 76.70, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 4.26% to settle at 183.60 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 1.68% to close at 154.40.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 1.35% to 47.35 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 0.99% to settle at 543.95 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.89% to 334.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 935 to 641 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1382 rose and 1062 declined, while 182 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.58% to 11.0075.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.21% or 3.25 to $1514.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.26% or 0.16 to hit $61.88 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.27 to trade at $67.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 71.362, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 79.8830.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.500.
