Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher while losses in the Power, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 9.09% or 14.75 points to trade at 177.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 6.70% or 24.95 points to end at 397.20 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 4.82% or 1013.35 points to 22029.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 1.45% or 6.70 points to trade at 455.00 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 1.05% or 2.95 points to end at 278.10 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 1.03% or 10.70 points to 1030.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 6.77% to 397.45, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.99% to settle at 1107.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.73% to close at 619.00.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.30% to 1027.85 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.14% to settle at 2126.65 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.09% to 176.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1011 to 579 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1522 rose and 954 declined, while 143 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.04% to 23.5675 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for October delivery was up 1.81% or 36.30 to $2044.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.64% or 1.10 to hit $42.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 1.05 to trade at $45.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.33% to 74.812, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 88.6225.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 92.915.
