Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Auto sectors led shares higher while losses in the Public Sector Undertakings, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.01% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 2.95% or 96.90 points to trade at 3,383.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 1.50% or 3.50 points to end at 236.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 1.27% or 14.25 points to 1,140.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which fell 2.94% or 21.00 points to trade at 694.40 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 1.73% or 10.10 points to end at 573.50 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was down 1.70% or 7.35 points to 424.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 1.20% to 1,140.40, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 1.09% to settle at 888.30 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.04% to close at 3,283.90.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.74% to 423.90 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.71% to settle at 573.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.58% to 6,552.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1093 to 821 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1817 fell and 1552 advanced, while 144 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.34% to 12.68 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.19% or 3.80 to $2,037.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.87% or 0.64 to hit $72.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.65 to trade at $76.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.32% to 82.05, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 90.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 101.30.
