Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Banking and IT sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW), which rose 4.69% or 3.80 points to trade at 84.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 4.13% or 19.95 points to end at 503.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 3.60% or 29.65 points to 853.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 6.30% or 33.65 points to trade at 500.20 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) declined 4.36% or 18.95 points to end at 415.95 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 2.23% or 28.05 points to 1229.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 4.02% to 502.95, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 3.13% to settle at 849.10 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 2.09% to close at 2210.10.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.18% to 271.50 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 0.96% to settle at 401.00 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 0.95% to 1780.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1007 to 541 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1561 fell and 965 advanced, while 148 ended unchanged.
Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) rose to all time highs; up 3.60% or 29.65 to 853.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.02% to 11.7550.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.43% or 5.78 to $1338.48 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.95% or 0.46 to hit $48.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.41 to trade at $54.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 63.995, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 76.6351.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 91.82.
