Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors led shares higher while losses in the Power, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 3.80% or 47.80 points to trade at 1307.40 at the close. Meanwhile, State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) added 1.69% or 4.50 points to end at 271.85 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 1.79% or 122.30 points to 6949.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which fell 4.10% or 6.45 points to trade at 151.00 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 2.92% or 23.95 points to end at 796.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 2.68% or 26.60 points to 964.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 1.78% to 271.45, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 1.53% to settle at 397.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.49% to close at 534.55.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 4.01% to 150.95 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.59% to settle at 531.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.49% to 175.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 866 to 740 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1329 rose and 1215 declined, while 141 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) rose to all time highs; up 1.79% or 122.30 to 6949.50. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.49% or 2.65 to 175.30.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.09% to 12.2075.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.60 to $1230.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $68.41 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.36 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 68.755, while EUR/INR fell 0.24% to 80.3805.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.28.
