Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 unchanged 0.00%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 2.92% or 17.65 points to trade at 621.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 2.56% or 25.35 points to end at 1,013.90 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 2.49% or 111.25 points to 4,588.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 3.27% or 204.60 points to trade at 6,053.00 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.22% or 64.65 points to end at 2,848.35 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 2.00% or 48.40 points to 2,372.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 2.12% to 301.50, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.02% to settle at 356.10 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.50% to close at 3,484.25.
The worst performers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.34% to 6,050.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.22% to settle at 2,847.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.83% to 2,336.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1282 to 905 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2043 rose and 1604 declined, while 125 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.43% to 17.08.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.90 to $2,323.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.93% or 0.73 to hit $77.65 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.74 to trade at $82.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.51, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 89.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 105.38.
