Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 2.93% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 2.96%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 2.85% or 4.75 points to trade at 171.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 0.89% or 1.70 points to end at 193.50 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 0.25% or 5.05 points to 2057.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 7.45% or 39.35 points to trade at 488.70 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 6.58% or 8.65 points to end at 122.75 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 6.57% or 213.20 points to 3030.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 0.38% to 2060.65, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.83% to settle at 15235.90 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 1.21% to close at 850.35.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 7.10% to 490.20 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 6.35% to settle at 3037.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 5.65% to 748.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1351 to 267 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1954 fell and 600 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 12.01% to 23.5100 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 11.95 to $1856.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.13% or 0.05 to hit $39.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.06 to trade at $41.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.43% to 73.884, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 85.9970.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 94.537.
