Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 2.67% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 2.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 2.16% or 15.30 points to trade at 724.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 1.13% or 8.80 points to end at 792.10 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 1.70% or 35.20 points to 2102.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL), which fell 24.50% or 53.20 points to trade at 165.10 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 19.60% or 64.90 points to end at 265.30 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was down 16.25% or 22.80 points to 118.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.19% to 721.85, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.88% to settle at 2103.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.36% to close at 1609.90.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 15.93% to 146.95 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 6.31% to settle at 1049.85 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 5.36% to 299.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1281 to 336 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1896 fell and 655 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged.

(NS:BPCL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 19.60% or 64.90 to 265.30. Shares in Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 16.25% or 22.80 to 118.05. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 15.93% or 27.85 to 146.95. Shares in Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.36% or 16.95 to 299.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.32% to 19.7325 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.34% or 4.10 to $1205.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.31% or 0.23 to hit $74.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $84.62 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.30% to 74.005, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 84.9485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 95.52.
