Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 2.64% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 2.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which rose 0.49% or 81.60 points to trade at 16,856.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) added 0.08% or 3.00 points to end at 3,884.00 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was down 0.03% or 0.85 points to 3,360.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which fell 7.08% or 867.45 points to trade at 11,386.05 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 5.46% or 309.25 points to end at 5,358.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 5.23% or 47.75 points to 865.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which rose 0.46% to 16,857.25, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.17% to settle at 7,921.20 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 0.18% to close at 2,195.90.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 7.02% to 11,390.90 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 5.44% to settle at 5,359.55 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 5.27% to 864.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1710 to 157 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2742 fell and 643 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 14.25% to 22.36.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.82% or 15.40 to $1,860.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.43% or 1.72 to hit $118.95 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 1.62 to trade at $120.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 78.04, while EUR/INR fell 0.56% to 81.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 104.58.
