Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 2.21% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 2.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 0.70% or 17.10 points to trade at 2467.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 0.48% or 4.85 points to end at 1007.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 0.37% or 4.75 points to 1281.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 8.52% or 52.25 points to trade at 560.95 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 7.84% or 11.60 points to end at 136.30 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 7.24% or 13.00 points to 166.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.57% to 2464.60, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.36% to settle at 1006.20 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 0.33% to close at 1282.50.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 8.67% to 560.20 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 5.81% to settle at 467.85 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 5.58% to 373.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1434 to 213 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2088 fell and 567 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 10.69% to 22.1875.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.22% or 24.00 to $1938.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.37% or 0.98 to hit $40.34 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.20% or 0.95 to trade at $42.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 73.552, while EUR/INR fell 0.54% to 86.6475.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 93.352.
