Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.72%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 1.75% or 62.50 points to trade at 3,642.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 1.44% or 13.10 points to end at 921.10 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 0.68% or 0.70 points to 104.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which fell 7.97% or 17.55 points to trade at 202.55 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 4.01% or 184.90 points to end at 4,424.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 3.82% or 15.75 points to 396.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 1.53% to 920.80, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 0.58% to settle at 104.25 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 0.33% to close at 346.25.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 7.93% to 202.60 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 3.00% to settle at 1,271.30 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.99% to 550.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1526 to 316 and 37 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2392 fell and 944 advanced, while 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to all time highs; rising 0.33% or 1.15 to 346.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 9.45% to 20.59 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.17% or 19.75 to $1,661.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.02% or 2.52 to hit $80.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.70% or 2.44 to trade at $88.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 80.98, while EUR/INR fell 0.70% to 79.13.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.67% at 111.85.
