Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.49%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 1.05% or 8.15 points to trade at 785.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 1.01% or 32.75 points to end at 3,279.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 0.67% or 22.05 points to 3,300.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which fell 5.05% or 186.35 points to trade at 3,500.25 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 3.91% or 47.30 points to end at 1,163.00 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 3.84% or 25.60 points to 640.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 1.15% to 785.70, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 0.68% to settle at 3,300.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.27% to close at 943.50.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.70% to 1,165.45 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 3.13% to settle at 18,499.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.86% to 100.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1423 to 415 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2231 fell and 1049 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.42% to 20.49.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 5.25 to $1,669.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.40% or 2.19 to hit $88.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 2.07 to trade at $94.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 82.18, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 79.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 113.11.
