Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.35%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 1.36% or 18.05 points to trade at 1,343.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) added 0.14% or 3.10 points to end at 2,163.50 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was up 0.12% or 1.50 points to 1,288.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 3.89% or 68.30 points to trade at 1,686.05 at the close. Trent Ltd (NS:TREN) declined 3.67% or 260.45 points to end at 6,831.55 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 3.62% or 34.95 points to 929.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which rose 0.52% to 930.25, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 0.25% to settle at 2,166.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 0.13% to close at 1,288.90.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 3.92% to 1,686.15 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 3.43% to settle at 931.00 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.36% to 1,071.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2174 to 357 and 101 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2792 fell and 1014 advanced, while 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.62% or 34.95 to 929.45. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.43% or 33.05 to 931.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.88% to 15.07.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.47% or 12.19 to $2,620.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.71% or 1.91 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.69 to trade at $72.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 85.02, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 88.33.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 107.90.
