Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Metals, Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.34% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 0.18% or 2.75 points to trade at 1,561.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 0.14% or 10.75 points to end at 7,779.95 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 0.12% or 6.85 points to 5,562.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM), which fell 3.92% or 212.20 points to trade at 5,204.00 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 3.84% or 91.95 points to end at 2,301.80 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 3.07% or 14.50 points to 457.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 0.36% to 7,794.40, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 0.35% to settle at 1,563.65 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 0.29% to close at 929.75.
The worst performers were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 3.97% to 5,202.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.52% to settle at 120.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.44% to 3,409.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1953 to 159 and 37 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 3090 fell and 611 advanced, while 151 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.81% to 10.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 6.65 to $1,987.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.64% or 0.56 to hit $87.52 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.43 to trade at $91.73 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 83.17, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 88.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 105.99.
