Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.29% to hit a new 3-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 2.35% or 66.30 points to trade at 2,883.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.17% or 34.75 points to end at 1,638.40 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 1.61% or 25.05 points to 1,584.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 4.27% or 214.45 points to trade at 4,806.05 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) declined 4.01% or 108.30 points to end at 2,590.60 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was down 3.55% or 350.40 points to 9,525.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.00% to 2,873.25, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 1.94% to settle at 1,635.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 1.08% to close at 829.90.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 3.00% to 1,298.90 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 2.68% to settle at 1,808.95 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 2.53% to 1,710.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1979 to 558 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2568 fell and 1306 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.01% to 16.70 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 1.35 to $2,750.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.65% or 1.84 to hit $71.33 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.50% or 1.83 to trade at $74.93 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 84.11, while EUR/INR rose 0.27% to 91.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 103.65.
