Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Auto, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 3.83% or 7.30 points to trade at 198.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.92% or 39.30 points to end at 2088.45 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.56% or 1.80 points to 116.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 7.70% or 23.30 points to trade at 280.25 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 5.92% or 7.75 points to end at 123.05 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was down 4.41% or 309.10 points to 6638.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 4.39% to 198.75, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 2.13% to settle at 2087.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.74% to close at 117.10.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 7.37% to 280.15 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 6.00% to settle at 123.00 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 5.84% to 56.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1169 to 398 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1676 fell and 736 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.36% to 16.1700.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 4.15 to $1536.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.40% or 0.80 to hit $56.49 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.94 to trade at $62.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 71.043, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 78.0870.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 98.213.
