Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.25% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.01% or 2.45 points to trade at 124.20 at the close. Meanwhile, UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) added 0.53% or 2.95 points to end at 562.05 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 0.56% or 6.17 points to 1101.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 15.76% or 10.10 points to trade at 54.10 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 7.83% or 26.25 points to end at 308.85 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was down 4.59% or 19.25 points to 394.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 1.97% to 124.25, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 1.43% to settle at 56.90 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 0.63% to close at 1100.40.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 15.52% to 54.15 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 3.66% to settle at 344.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.59% to 1281.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1217 to 342 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1731 fell and 673 advanced, while 114 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; falling 15.76% or 10.10 to 54.10. Shares in Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.83% or 26.25 to 308.85. Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.59% or 19.25 to 394.75. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; down 15.52% or 9.95 to 54.15. Shares in HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) rose to 3-years lows; gaining 0.63% or 6.92 to 1100.40. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.59% or 47.70 to 1281.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.29% to 15.5500.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.74% or 11.15 to $1504.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.05% or 1.19 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.64% or 1.68 to trade at $65.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.27% to 71.320, while EUR/INR rose 0.59% to 78.9085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 97.890.
