Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Consumer Durables and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.23% to hit a new 3-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 4.53% or 15.55 points to trade at 357.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.57% or 34.70 points to end at 2248.60 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.15% or 13.70 points to 648.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 8.21% or 7.25 points to trade at 81.10 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 5.86% or 33.60 points to end at 540.95 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 5.13% or 6.70 points to 123.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.96% to 357.05, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.15% to settle at 650.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.93% to close at 2248.55.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 8.15% to 81.10 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 5.62% to settle at 58.80 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 5.25% to 123.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1204 to 382 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1624 fell and 703 advanced, while 131 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 9.20% to 16.5850 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.08% or 15.75 to $1473.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.93% or 0.52 to hit $55.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.65 to trade at $61.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 1.21% to 70.530, while EUR/INR rose 1.72% to 78.7260.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 97.502.
